About

A long time ago in a Roman prison, a man approaching death penned a letter to his younger apprentice. He wrote to encourage and reassure the apprentice that despite his bleak condition, he would not abandon the very thing which led to him being bound in chains like a criminal.

This thing was not simply mentioned in passing, but was in fact the basis for the entirety of the letter. The prisoner had been proclaiming a message so powerful that though he once sought to destroy it, he now rejoiced to be suffering because of it. It was this message that welded their lives’ together and brought about such a letter.

Picturing the tears of his apprentice at their last embrace, he writes of their common hope – “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David…” It was Jesus who died several decades before but rose again on the third day, the sacrifice of God for man’s sins. It was the good news of his redemptive work that this prisoner and his apprentice worked to tell all who would listen.

All sorts of methods throughout the centuries have been deployed to stop this word from going forth. But even as he sat in prison, chained because of the truth he proclaimed, he wrote emphatically “but God’s word is not chained!”

It is in light of this truth that the explanation of this blog is found. Word Loose exists to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and His Word. Through blog posts that touch on various parts of the human experience, it is my prayer that you’ll come to meet Him and see for yourself that God’s word is not chained. It’s loose.
